Our Process for a new Egress Opening

Preparation & Construction

Adding a basement egress window doesn’t have to be complicated. We’ve simplified the process into two straightforward parts: initial permitting, and construction.

Part 1: Permitting

Typical Timeline: 2-4 Weeks
  • 1 In-Home Consultation: In-person visit to thoroughly understand your needs and assess the work area.
  • 2 Information Gathering: Collecting essential details, photos, and precise site measurements.
  • 3 Permit Drawings & Documentation: Expert drafting of construction drawings and municipal permit documents.
  • 4 Permit Submission: Full management of permit submission with your local city or township.
  • 5 Utility Marking: Scheduling professional utility locating ("JULIE") to mark underground utility lines for safety.
  • 6 Construction Authorization: Permit issued and ready for excavation and saw cutting.

Part 2: Construction

Typical Timeline: 2-3 Days
  • 1 Worksite Preparation: Setting up protective barriers and dust containment to protect your home.
  • 2 Excavation: Precision digging to expose the foundation wall where the egress opening will be cut.
  • 3 Foundation Cut: Diamond saw cutting through concrete foundation walls to exact opening dimensions.
  • 4 Installation: Setting the new structural window frame, well liner, and energy-efficient basement window.
  • 5 Drainage Connection: Tying the new window well drain into your existing drain tile system.
  • 6 Backfilling: Backfilling pea gravel and soil around the well, leaving your lawn clean and tidy.
